Environmental Audit (Forest Ridge) |

|
Hi Resident
Kelsey & Eden Park SNT will be conducting an Environmental Audit on Forest Ridge, Beckenham at 1200hrs (Midday). If you would like to come along and speak with officers please feel free to do so. We are open to planning Environmental Audits in the future on other roads around the Ward.
In the context of residential housing and policing, an Environmental Visual Audit (EVA) is a neighbourhood walk-through conducted by police, local councils, and residents. It is designed to identify physical decay, security flaws, and environmental disorder that contribute to crime and antisocial behavior, allowing agencies to address these issues and improve community safety.
An EVA assesses several key areas to "design out crime" and improve the local living environment:
Physical Security: Checking the condition of communal doors, windows, locks, and perimeter fencing on residential estates to identify vulnerabilities. Lighting and Surveillance: Identifying dark alleyways, blind spots, or overgrown foliage that obscure natural sightlines or CCTV coverage. Environmental Decay: Recording instances of vandalism, graffiti, litter, fly-tipping, and abandoned vehicles, which signal neglect and can attract further criminal activity. Access and Layout: Evaluating how pedestrians and vehicles navigate the area, particularly focusing on alleyways or escape routes used by criminals. By gathering this information, police and housing associations can target specific problem areas, plan targeted patrols, request environmental improvements (like installing better street lighting), and collaborate with local authorities.
